I think we as Bajans know how to live humbly, enjoy the little things in life like going for a sea bath, liming with friends and family, going to town, going to Chefette for icecream on a Sunday, having a drink by the rum shop, and just making the most of what you have… we don’t need a lot to be happy.īut we also take so much pride in ourselves and our country, we can list a million things that could be improved in Barbados but let anyone speak ill of our country or any person of Bajan descent and you will see how quick we are to defend our own. I think being Bajan can be summed up in three words “Humble but proud”. Maybe that’s why up to this day I still love the beach and any opportunity I get you can find me at the beach. I remember trying to build sand castles, covering my siblings up to their neck in sand and playing in the water, doing handstands and seeing who could hold their breath the longest under the water. Some weekends we would go to a beach about 10 mins from where we lived.
